The Press Information Bureau’s (PIB) Fact Check Unit has debunked several fake claims circulating on social media amid growing tensions between India and Pakistan.
One viral post claimed that an Indian Air Force female pilot, Squadron Leader Shivani Singh, had been captured in Pakistan. PIB clarified that the claim is completely false.
Another claim suggested that Indian soldiers were crying and abandoning their posts due to an intensifying conflict. PIB confirmed that the video being shared is old and unrelated to the Indian Army. It shows students from a private defence coaching institute celebrating their selection into the forces.

In a separate claim, Pakistan’s state-run media and China’s Xinhua news agency reported that Pakistan used hypersonic missiles launched from JF-17 jets to destroy India’s S-400 air defence system in Adampur. The Indian Air Force dismissed this report as false.
Social media posts also alleged a cyberattack had shut down India’s power grid and grounded flights between Delhi and Mumbai. PIB fact-checked these claims and confirmed both to be fake. The Airports Authority of India clarified that only certain segments of air traffic service routes were temporarily closed for operational reasons—not the entire route.
Another false video claimed India had launched a drone strike on the Nankana Sahib gurdwara in Pakistan. PIB said this was untrue and added that no such attack occurred. Nankana Sahib is a major Sikh religious site and birthplace of Guru Nanak.
