After Amul, Sanchi has also raised milk prices in Madhya Pradesh. The price of 1 litre of Sanchi milk has gone up by Rs 2. Half-litre packs will cost Rs 1 more. The new rates will take effect from May 7.
The hike applies to major cities like Bhopal and Indore. Milk unions in Ujjain, Gwalior, Sagar, and Bundelkhand are also increasing prices.
Sanchi milk is the most consumed packed milk in Bhopal. The city uses over 3.5 lakh litres of Sanchi milk daily. Amul follows with 70,000 litres. Other brands like Saurabh, Shridhi, and Mother Dairy also sell in the city. Saurabh and Shridhi together supply around 1 lakh litres per day.
Loose milk has a higher demand than packed milk in Bhopal. The city consumes 8 to 9 lakh litres of loose milk daily. Many dairies have increased loose milk prices by up to Rs 2 per litre.
Sanchi last raised milk prices in July 2024. After 10 months, the company has hiked prices again. Rates of 160 ml toned milk (DTM) and 200 ml Parivar packs remain unchanged.
Amul had increased milk prices on May 1. It raised the price by Rs 2 per litre and Rs 1 for half a litre. The revised rates apply in all districts including Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior, and Jabalpur.
Amul is the second-largest packed milk supplier in the state after Sanchi. It sells over 3.5 lakh litres daily. Indore consumes the most at 1.25 lakh litres, followed by Bhopal, Jabalpur, and Gwalior with 50,000 to 80,000 litres.
