Ground Report | New Delhi: Farooq Abdullah to party work; National Conference President Dr. Farooq Abdullah on Sunday asked the party men to be ready for a platform where they may have to make sacrifices like Indian farmers to get back the rights taken away by the Centre.

Addressing party workers at the mausoleum of his father and NC Patron Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah in Hazratbal here on the occasion of Sheikh’s death anniversary, Dr. Farooq said that every NC worker and leader should stay in touch with the people in every village and locality.

“You all have to persevere. After the sacrifice of 700 farmers, the Center repealed the agricultural laws. We may have to offer a similar sacrifice to get back the rights taken away from us by the Centre,” he said. Hundreds of NC workers and leaders had gathered at Hazratbal to pay tribute to the founder of NC on this death anniversary amid incessant rains.

Responding to Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s recent statement that after the abrogation of Article 370, there is peace and tourism in J&K, Dr. Farooq said if tourism is increasing in Kashmir, what does it mean? Is? “Is tourism everything,” the NC chief asked. (Farooq Abdullah to party work)

He said that the police and administration had to take out the bodies of two and hand them over to their families after heavy protests by the families of the three killed in the Hyderpora encounter. “The body of the third innocent is yet to be handed over to his family in Udhampur,” Farooq said.
