The tractor parade of farmers took a violent form on Republic Day in the country’s capital Delhi. Farmer protesters started violence near ITO. The farmers threw stones at the police. The agitating farmers also attacked the police team with swords and sticks and tried to put tractors on them.

At the same time, Navneet Singh, a farmer, was killed by turning the tractor, but India Today group Rajdeep Sardesai tried to spread sensation by tweeting fake news. Later, on being disturbed, the tweet was deleted like today.
Rajdeep wrote on Twitter, “45-year-old Navneet has died on ITO in police firing. The farmers told me that his ‘sacrifice’ would not go in vain. “

Rajdeep tweeted, “One person, 45-year-old Navneet killed allegedly in police firing at ITO.” In a bid to pump up emotions, he added, “Farmers tell me: the ‘sacrifice’ will not go in vain.” To further sensationalise the matter, he tweeted a picture of the deceased’s body covered in the Indian tricolour.
However India Today had reported that the man died after his tractor had overturned. “One person died after a tractor overturned at Delhi’s DDU Marg on Tuesday during the violent protest in the borders and several parts of the National Capital,” the India Today report said.
