A cyclone over Marathawada and south Vidarbha will bring rain to central and east India until February 15, the Indian Meteorological Department IMD said.

Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Bihar, West Bengal, and Sikkim will have rainy days from February 13-15. Odisha and Uttar Pradesh will have some rain until February 14, 2024.

IMD expect a Western Disturbance to bring rainfall or snowfall to the Western Himalayan Region on February 17 and 18. They also expect the minimum temperatures to increase by 2-4°C in Northwest India in the next few days, and by 2-3°C in many parts of East India.

The IMD also said that hailstorms may happen in east Madhya Pradesh, north Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Jharkhand today.

Jammu-Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand will have light rain and snow.

Delhi’s temperature set to rise

After a chilly and foggy winter, the national capital’s temperatures will rise. The maximum temperature will likely touch 26 degrees Celsius by the middle of this week, according to IMD said. Significantly, in January, Delhi experienced seven cold wave days, which was the highest in 16 years, and the temperatures dipped to the lowest level in 12 years.

According to IMD, they expect the day temperature to touch 26 degrees Celsius by Wednesday. However, they do not expect the minimum temperature to rise above the 10-degree mark – normal for this time of the year — for most days, and mornings will remain cold.

IMD mentioned that Northwest India is very likely to experience a gradual rise in minimum temperatures by 2-4°C during the next 5 days. Also, many parts of east India are very likely to witness a gradual rise in minimum temperatures by 2-3°C during the next 2 days. However, the minimum temperatures over central India are likely to remain unchanged during the next 5 days.
