Sushan Mehta, an Indian journalist, was the subject of a social media trend called “Boycott Sushan Mehta” on Monday. This happened after an old video of him making anti-Islamic comments on his show went viral on a platform known as X, previously Twitter. These comments were made while he was reacting to an old video of Indian stand-up comedian Munawar Faruqui.

In the video, Mehta is seen allegedly making remarks about Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him). This was in response to a part of Faruqui’s old stand-up comedy act where he talked about Hindu gods.

Mehta runs a YouTube channel called Sports Yaari where he discusses the selection and performance of the Indian cricket team.

Mehta, who has over 100,000 followers on X, hosts his show with two to three other people. They also share their views on the cricket match and its outcome.

He is often seen getting angry and outbursts when he gives his reviews on the Indian national team’s performance. Many social media users, including journalists, said that the video exposed the “real face” of Mehta.

Who is Indian sports journalist Sushant Mehta

Sushant Mehta is a sports journalist in India. He serves as an editor for cricket players and is the CEO of Sports Yaari. Born in Mumbai, India, he celebrates his birthday on February 4th every year. He has gained significant popularity on social media platforms like Instagram and Twitter, amassing a large following.

With over 15 years of experience as an editor and TV presenter, Mehta transitioned to digital platforms as audience preferences shifted. He noticed that TV audiences were increasingly consuming content on mobiles, tablets, and smart TVs, particularly through OTT platforms and YouTube.

The hashtag “Boycott Sushant Mehta” has been trending on social media, reflecting a wave of public sentiment against the Indian sports journalist. This trend was triggered by an old video of Mehta making comments that were perceived as anti-Islamic. The video, which went viral on a platform known as X, previously Twitter, has sparked a significant backlash against Mehta.

In the video, Mehta is seen reacting to an old stand-up comedy act by Indian comedian Munawar Faruqui. His remarks, particularly those about Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him), have been met with widespread criticism. This controversy has not only affected his reputation but also the popularity of his YouTube channel, Sports Yaari, where he discusses the Indian cricket team’s selection and performance.

Despite having a large following on social media platforms, a severe backlash has come. Many social media users, including journalists, have voiced their disapproval of Mehta’s comments, which has triggered the “Boycott Sushant Mehta” trend.
