In West Bengal, the first installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) scheme is going to be provided to the farmers.
Many ministers of the central government have tightened many times over the West Bengal government for not implementing this scheme.

The Indian Express newspaper writes that the first installment of 2,000 rupees to the beneficiary farmers of the state will start receiving from May 14.
A source has told the newspaper that the West Bengal government has allowed the decision of the beneficiaries of PM-Kisan to deposit the money directly in their account.

It has been revealed that on May 4, the state government had automatically allowed money transfer to the account.
The decision was taken when Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar wrote a letter to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee a day ago, requesting the state government officials to give benefits of the scheme.

7.55 lakh farmers of West Bengal are currently found eligible for this scheme and they will be given the first installment of Rs 2,000 for the April-July period. Sources say that the central government will release Rs 9 crore during this period.

Under this PM-Kisan Yojana, 6,000 rupees are deposited directly into their account in three installments throughout the year.
Under this scheme started in 2018-19, the eighth installment is being given to the farmers of the country this time.
