Gwalior received light drizzle on Friday morning, breaking a week-long spell of scorching heat. Residents stepped out in cooler weather after days of relentless sun. The temperature dropped slightly, bringing momentary comfort. Along with Gwalior, Bhind and Morena also saw heavy rainfall during the day.

The Meteorological Department said rain and thunderstorms will continue in the Gwalior-Chambal region for the next five days. The weather shift is due to active cyclonic circulation. But this relief is temporary. After May 10, the heat is expected to return sharply, with daytime temperatures reaching up to 48 degrees Celsius.

Meteorologist Ved Prakash Singh said, “There will be some relief in the first two weeks, but the heat will return stronger. By the third and fourth week, heatwaves will dominate again.” He added that the intense heat will also coincide with Nautapa — a traditional period of peak summer in the region. In 2021, Gwalior touched a high of 42.4°C in May. This year, it may exceed 47°C.

According to forecasts, the month will unfold in distinct phases. The first half brings scattered rain and cloud cover. But the second half will see rising temperatures, dry winds, and extended heatwaves.

Gwalior weather forecast – May 2025

Week Weather Forecast Temperature Range Notes
Week 1 Thunderstorms and rain 38–40°C Relief from heat, cloudy skies
Week 2 Cloudy, some light rain, heatwaves likely 40–42°C 1–2 days of heatwave conditions
Week 3 Clear skies, temperature rising fast 43–46°C Start of extended heatwave
Week 4 Intense heat, strong hot winds 47–48°C Possible 10-day heatwave spell
