Madhya Pradesh is bracing for its third spell of wet weather this February, as storm and rain alerts cover 22 districts across the state on Wednesday.

Rain fell across Ratlam district on Tuesday night, signalling the arrival of a new weather shift driven by two cyclonic circulations and a western disturbance.

“The weather will change due to two cyclonic circulations and a western disturbance,” said Dr. Divya E. Surendran, Senior Meteorologist. “The impact will be felt in more districts on Wednesday, and minimum temperatures will likely rise.”

Which Districts Face the Worst Conditions

The alert covers major urban centres including Indore, Gwalior, Ujjain, Dhar, Ratlam, Guna, Morena, Bhind, and Chhatarpur, among others. Thunderstorms are possible in several of these locations through the day.

Bhopal, along with Sagar, Vidisha, Dewas, and Satna, faces cloudy skies but falls outside the rain alert zone for now.

The disturbance is expected to linger into Thursday, when Gwalior, Bhind, Datia, Shivpuri, Niwari, Tikamgarh, and Chhatarpur face light rain with thunderstorms. After that, the system is forecast to weaken, and no further storm alerts are expected beyond Thursday.

This marks the third weather disruption in February alone. Two earlier spells of hail, rain, and storms caused significant crop damage across the state, prompting the government to carry out field surveys of affected farmland.

Temperatures Rise Even as Storms Approach

Despite the unsettled conditions, temperatures across the state have been climbing. More than 20 districts recorded maximum temperatures of 30 degrees Celsius or above on Tuesday. Night temperatures are also rising, with most cities staying above 10 degrees Celsius after dark.

Karaundi in Katni recorded the coldest overnight low in the state at 8 degrees Celsius. Kalyanpur in Shahdol followed at 8.1 degrees, with Pachmarhi at 8.8 degrees and Rewa at 9.6 degrees.
