Madhya Pradesh is experiencing an intense cold weather this December, prompting health authorities to issue urgent alerts across the state. The central government has directed state health departments to remain vigilant as temperatures plunge by 6 to 7 degrees Celsius, bringing health risks that demand immediate attention.

Hospitals across the state are seeing a sharp increase in patients suffering from colds and flu. The government has instructed both public and private medical facilities to stay on high alert and ensure prompt treatment without any negligence.

The dropping temperatures have brought serious health concerns to the forefront. Medical authorities warn that hypothermia and frostbite are becoming increasingly common as the cold wave intensifies. Hypothermia occurs when the body temperature drops below normal levels, potentially reaching as low as 35 degrees Celsius.

The National Disaster Management Control Authority and the National Center for Disease Control have issued specific guidelines to state health departments. Deans of medical colleges, Chief Medical Officers, and civil surgeons have received clear instructions to follow these protocols strictly.

The Meteorological Department and Health Department are working together to raise public awareness about preventing cold-related illnesses. Officials emphasize that immediate treatment is essential for conditions like frostbite, which can cause numbness and blisters.

Bhopal Sees Historic Temperature Lows

The capital city Bhopal recorded a minimum temperature of 8.4 degrees Celsius, marking a significant milestone. This is the first time in 25 years that Bhopal has seen temperatures of 10 degrees Celsius or below in December. On December 18, the maximum temperature reached 23 degrees Celsius while the minimum dropped to 10 degrees Celsius.

Weather conditions in Bhopal include reduced visibility of up to 200 meters, wind speeds of 10 kilometers per hour, and humidity levels around 55 percent. The cold winds and humidity are keeping the weather chilly despite clear and sunny days.

The Meteorological Department reports that cold winds have weakened slightly due to a new Western Disturbance. This change will bring some relief from the cold wave for the next two days. However, a new phase of severe cold will begin after December 20, bringing freezing temperatures both day and night.

The weather forecast predicts no rainfall through the end of December. Average temperatures will remain around 25 degrees Celsius during the day and 14 degrees Celsius at night. Wind speeds will average 12 kilometers per hour, maintaining the cool conditions. Fog and mist will continue to affect visibility, dropping it to around 100 meters in many areas across the state.
