Ground Report | New Delhi: Explosion in Pathankot; A grenade exploded at the gate of an Indian Army camp in Pathankot, Punjab. The blast took place at the Triveni Gate of the camp. After this incident, an alert has been issued in all the areas of Pathankot.
Pathankot police said that the blast happened late in the night and there were no casualties in the blast. At present, efforts are being made to identify the attackers by examining the CCTV footage.

The report said that unidentified persons, who had come on bikes, hurled the grenade near the army station’s gate when a procession was passing through the area. The blast took place at the Triveni Gate of the Indian Army near Dhirapul in Pathankot.
All police posts in Pathankot have been put on alert. Sources told ANI that local police officials have recovered parts of the grenade from the spot.
Five years ago, the Indian Air Force base in Pathankot was attacked by six highly armed terrorists who entered India from Pakistan on the intervening night of December 30-31, 2015, through the Kathua-Gurdaspur border in Punjab.

On 1 January 2016, terrorists robbed the SUV of Punjab’s top constable Salwinder Singh for transporting it to the vicinity of the airport. The attacks began on January 2, but security forces traced the terrorists with the help of thermal imaging after the attackers shot them down with rockets. (Explosion in Pathankot)
Wearing the uniform of the Indian Army, these terrorists had entered India from the Kathua-Gurdaspur border in Punjab. The attack began on 2 January 2016 and continued for three days. However, later the National Security Guards (NSG) killed the terrorists.
The attack, reportedly carried out by Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), escalated the tension between India and Pakistan. “Pakistan is our neighbor country. We want good relations not only with Pakistan but with all our neighbours. We also want peace, but if there is any terror attack on India, we will give a befitting reply,” Rajnath Singh, Which was what the Union Home Minister had said then.
