Renowned environmental activist and cyclist, Naveen Solanki, recently turned down an invitation for an interview on the Big FM radio show. The radio station asked him to refrain from criticizing the government or government officials during the interview, which led to his decision to decline the offer.

Naveen Solanki, widely known for his campaign to protect trees and promote cycling as a sustainable mode of transportation, firmly stood in his commitment to truth and honesty, which led him to decide to decline the interview.

Talk about environment without criticizing govt

The radio show planned to discuss Naveen Solanki’s tree-saving campaign and his advocacy for cycling, without delving into any government operations or policies related to the environment. Despite the station’s intention to focus solely on raising awareness about the importance of trees and promoting cycling, Naveen Solanki felt uncomfortable with the imposed restrictions on expressing his views about the government’s role in environmental preservation.

“I am not doing the interview if I cannot criticize the government. That is what I exactly do,” Naveen Solanki asserted. While he actively opposes civilians from cutting trees, he also emphasizes the need to hold government agencies accountable for their responsibilities in protecting trees and safeguarding the environment.

The Big FM radio show had also planned to discuss Naveen Solanki’s ongoing initiative called ‘Dhakad of Delhi‘, which focuses on encouraging responsible environmental practices among Delhi residents. The campaign urges people to take small but impactful actions, like reducing plastic use and engaging in e-waste and waste segregation.

In response to Naveen Solanki’s decision to decline the interview, Big FM RJ acknowledged the station’s guidelines and limitations, stating that on radio, criticism of any individual or organization, including the government, is restricted.
