Winter weather is retreating across Madhya Pradesh, with daytime temperatures climbing above 30 degrees Celsius in more than 15 cities across the state. Even nighttime temperatures have risen above 10 degrees, signaling the end of the cold season.

Western Disturbances to Have Limited Impact

The warming trend comes despite ongoing snowfall in the Himalayan mountains. According to the India Meteorological Department’s Bhopal centre, two Western Disturbances are currently active in the western Himalayan region, scheduled for February 13 and 16.

However, these weather systems will have limited impact on Madhya Pradesh. Their effects will remain concentrated in the mountainous regions rather than spreading across the central Indian state.

The existing weather pattern has brought light cloud cover to western parts of Madhya Pradesh. Several districts experienced changing weather conditions on Wednesday, with more cloud cover expected on Thursday.

Despite the warming trend, residents should prepare for another brief cold spell. The meteorological department reports that after the current systems pass and mountain snow melts, cooler air may descend once again into the plains.

For the immediate future, light fog will affect some districts on February 14, though no rainfall is expected. The day may see cloudy conditions. By February 15, fog will diminish further, affecting only a handful of districts.

Temperature Records Across the State

On Friday, the mercury crossed the 30-degree mark in 15 cities including Dhar, Narmadapuram, Indore, Khandwa, Khargone, Ratlam, Ujjain, Khajuraho, Mandla, Narsinghpur, and Seoni.

Nighttime temperatures have also risen significantly. Narmadapuram and Sagar both recorded minimum temperatures of 17 degrees or higher during Thursday and Friday nights.

Pachmarhi remained the coldest location in the state, recording a minimum of 8.2 degrees Celsius. Other cooler areas included Khajuraho at 8.6 degrees and Mandsaur at 9.7 degrees. Most other cities across the state recorded nighttime temperatures exceeding 10 degrees Celsius.

The minimal temperature will likely increase by another 2-3 degrees in the coming days, further confirming winter’s departure from the region.
