Ground Report | New Delhi: Twitter appointed Vinay Prakash as its Resident Grievance Officer for India. Twitter has also given the official’s address. If anyone wants to get in touch, he can also do a meeting.

Twitter appointed Vinay Prakash

According to the information given by Twitter, Vinay Prakash’s email id is grievance-officer-in@twitter.com. At the same time, his office will be on the fourth floor of The State Building in Bangalore, Karnataka. Twitter said that India can be contacted on Twitter at ‘4th Floor, The Estate, 121 Dickenson Road, Bangalore 560042’

Among the conditions that are mandatory to be fulfilled under the new IT rules in India include the appointment of three key personnel. Accordingly, the appointment of Chief Compliance Officer, Nodal Officer and Grievance Officer is also included.

There is also a condition in the appointment of these three officers that all three should be residents of India. According to the updated information on Twitter’s website, Vinay Prakash is the Resident Grievance Officer (RGO).

Delhi HC refused to allow any interim protection

On July 8, the Delhi High Court refused to allow any interim protection to Twitter and said that the government is ready to take any action with respect to the social media company in compliance with the IT rules.

The court adjourned the matter till July 28, saying, “It is clarified that since this court has given only time to Twitter to file its affidavit to show compliance with the rules and no interim protection has been granted.” Therefore, in case of any violation of the rules, the option will be open to the Government of India to take action against Twitter as per the rules.

The Delhi High Court had directed Twitter to inform by July 8 that by when it would appoint a local Grievance Redressal Officer (RGO) in compliance with the new IT rules.
