Strong storms and rain will continue across Madhya Pradesh this week. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert for 25 districts, including Bhopal, for Wednesday.
Districts on alert include Bhopal, Morena, Bhind, Neemuch, Mandsaur, Alirajpur, Barwani, Khargone, Burhanpur, Khandwa, Harda, Dewas, Sehore, Shajapur, Rajgarh, Vidisha, Raisen, Narmadapuram, Betul, Chhindwara, Pandhurna, Seoni, Mandla, and Balaghat.
Senior meteorologist Dr. Divya E. Surendran said that the active weather system is causing storms and rainfall in many areas. This pattern is expected to continue until May 17.
On Tuesday, Bhopal saw heavy rainfall in just 30 minutes, flooding roads and triggering high waves in the big pond due to strong winds. Rain also fell in Dhar, Ratlam, and Malajkhand.
At the same time, many cities remained hot. Khajuraho recorded the highest temperature at 42.4°C, followed by Naugaon, Satna, Rewa, Umaria, and others above 40°C.
Among major cities, Gwalior hit 41.4°C, Bhopal 38.2°C, Jabalpur 38.8°C, Ujjain 38.5°C, and Indore 36.3°C. Pachmarhi was the coolest at 31.8°C.
The first half of May has brought frequent rain, hail, and strong winds. This trend will continue for the next few days. But the second half is expected to bring intense heat.
The mercury could reach 45°C or more in cities like Gwalior, Bhind, Tikamgarh, Rajgarh, Barwani, and Khargone. Some districts may touch 48°C, including Khajuraho and Naugaon.
