A fake Facebook post impersonating National Security Advisor Ajit Doval has triggered concern after it falsely claimed a Pakistani cyberattack was imminent. The post, shared from a profile using Doval’s name and photo, warned people to avoid anonymous calls and messages, urging them to alert others.
The message read: “Now coward country Pakistan is preparing for cyberattack secretly. Avoid clicking messages or picking up the phone from an anonymous number. And share this information with everyone. Cooperate, alert everyone. Stay awake.”

The Press Information Bureau (PIB) has confirmed that the account is fake and that NSA Doval does not maintain an official Facebook profile.
In a statement posted on X, PIB Fact Check said: “This Facebook account is FAKE. The National Security Advisor does NOT have an official Facebook account. Citizens are advised to exercise caution and not engage with any impostor or fake profiles claiming to represent them.”
Officials have asked the public to rely only on verified government sources for updates related to national security or sensitive information. They say false claims like these can create confusion and panic.
This is the latest in a series of misinformation attempts traced back to Pakistan-linked social media accounts. Just days ago, similar accounts claimed that an Indian Air Force Sukhoi Su-30MKI had been shot down near Muzaffarabad and that an Indian pilot had been captured.
That claim was also debunked. PIB clarified the image being shared was from an old crash in Maharashtra in 2014, unrelated to current events.
Authorities believe these tactics are part of a larger disinformation campaign aimed at misleading the Indian public.
Citizens are encouraged to report fake posts and avoid sharing unverified content.
