Two women were killed in a blast in a house in the night of 25-26 November in Morena district of Madhya Pradesh. At the same time, many people are still feared to be trapped under the debris.
Last night, there was a blast at Munshi Rathore’s house in Rathore Colony in the Tanch Road area of the city. The blast was so strong that the neighbours’ houses also collapsed.
After the accident, the district administration and SDRF team reached the spot. At present, rescue work is going on.
District Superintendent of Police Saurabh Sameer told reporters, “A blast was reported tonight in Rathore Colony under Kotwali police station area. The death of two women has been confirmed in the incident.” “4-5 injured have been admitted to the hospital. Three houses have been completely damaged due to the blast.”
The blast trapped Vaijayanti Kushwaha and her 45-year-old daughter Vimla under the rubble. Nearby, Rakesh Rathore’s house collapsed, killing his wife Vidya (50). Another victim, Pooja Rathore, daughter-in-law of Vasudev Rathore, also died. Five injured, including Rakesh, Kanhaiya Rathore, Satyaveer Rathore, Krishna Rathore, and Raju, were admitted to Morena District Hospital and referred to Gwalior for further treatment.
Police suspect the blast may have been caused by firecrackers or gunpowder stored in the house, though the exact cause is under investigation. District Superintendent of Police Sameer Saurabh confirms the incident, stating that rescue operations are the immediate priority and the cause of the explosion will be determined after thorough investigation.
Eyewitnesses report widespread destruction, with iron rods and debris scattered across the site. Vasudev Rathore, whose house is destroyed, speculates that stored gunpowder triggered the explosion. Large crowds gather at the scene, watching the ongoing rescue efforts from nearby rooftops.
The blast devastates families and leaves the community in shock. Authorities are working tirelessly to remove debris and locate survivors. With the situation still unfolding, the focus remains on rescue and relief efforts while investigations into the cause proceed.
