Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced that farmers in Madhya Pradesh can now sell their soybean at the Minimum Support Price (MSP). The decision follows a recent cabinet proposal and swift approval from the central government.

Shivraj Singh Chouhan said, “Agriculture and farmer welfare are the highest priorities for PM Modi. For us, serving farmers is like praying to God. Farmers of MP were worried in the past few days as soybeans were being sold below MSP”.

The move comes in response to concerns from Madhya Pradesh farmers experiencing a decline in soybean prices below the MSP. Chouhan highlighted similar approvals granted to Maharashtra and Karnataka earlier this year.

“Recently, we received a proposal from the Madhya Pradesh government to authorize soybean purchases at MSP. We have promptly approved this proposal,” Chouhan added. He reassured farmers that they will receive the full price for their crops, addressing concerns about fluctuating market rates.

The decision is expected to relieve soybean farmers in Madhya Pradesh, ensuring they secure a fair price for their produce and stabilize their income amid volatile market conditions.

Earlier, Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan stated that the Centre had already approved soybean MSP proposals from three states, including Maharashtra. He assured that Madhya Pradesh’s proposal would be given priority.
