In a major boost for renewable energy in Jammu and Kashmir, solar company Grew Energy has announced plans to invest a massive Rs 4500 crore to set up a 3.2 gigawatt (GW) solar module manufacturing facility in the Kathua district of J&K.

Grew became the first renewable energy company in India to establish a manufacturing plant in Jammu and Kashmir. Situated in Kathua, the advanced facility will adhere to international standards and feature state-of-the-art automated machinery. Grew proudly claims the title of the first solar company in India to possess such innovative technology and a top-tier manufacturing facility.

Grew Energy has exciting plans to establish a 3.2 GW module manufacturing facility in Jammu & Kashmir, investing Rs 4,500 crore,” the company announced on Friday. The facility, set to be built in Kathua over an 80-acre area, is poised to significantly boost the region’s renewable energy infrastructure.

Speaking on the initiative, a representative from Grew Energy stated, “Our investment will pave the way for a state-of-the-art manufacturing plant capable of producing 3.2 GW high-efficiency modules and 2.8 GW ingots, wafers, and cells annually. This underscores our commitment to both sustainable energy production and economic development in Jammu & Kashmir.

According to Grew Energy CEO and Director Vinay Thadani, the project will generate employment opportunities for the people of Jammu & Kashmir. Thadani stated, “With the establishment of the Kathua facility and our existing 2.8 GW module manufacturing facility in Jaipur, Grew will achieve a total manufacturing capacity of 6 GW for modules and 2.8 GW for solar components by FY25.”
