Ground Report | New Delhi: Gorakhpur Murder; The family of a Kanpur businessman, who was killed under suspicious circumstances in a hotel in Gorakhpur, has alleged that he was thrashed to death by the police during a raid.

Gorakhpur Murder

Gorakhpur realtor Manish Gupta died late Monday night during a police raid at a hotel in the city. After the death of the businessman, six policemen were suspended on Tuesday night. After this, a case of murder was also registered against the accused policemen on Wednesday.

Manish Gupta’s wife has said that two officers in Gorakhpur have written an FIR by editing three names out of the complaint letter. They keep pressuring us to save their police.

Earlier a video had also surfaced, in which the police officers are talking about hiding the matter. The wife of the deceased Manish Gupta has termed the video as correct.

SSP clarified

However, after the video went viral, SSP Vipin Tada has clarified. They said,We went to meet the family and address their grievances. The district magistrate and I talked for more than two hours. We took a complaint from the family and later filed an FIR. A short clip of the conversation without context is going viral.

According to a report in NDTV Online, the purported video was allegedly shot by one of the family members of the victim during a meeting with Gorakhpur District Magistrate Vijay Kiran Anand and SSP Vipin Tada.

In the video, the District Magistrate is seen telling Gupta’s family that “I am pleading with you like an elder brother. You will not believe after the court case, it takes years in the court.

Meanwhile, the authorities realised that they were being filmed and asked it to stop. Many leaders, including AAP’s Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh, have tweeted this video saying, ‘These are officers of Yogi Adityanath. The victims are asking the family not to register an FIR.
