A fire broke out at the terminal one gate of the Serum Institute of India (SII) located in Pune. Currently, the cause of the fire has not been known. 10 fire engines have reached the spot, which are doing the work of extinguishing the fire.

According to the latest information, the team of NDRF has also left for Pune. Explain that SII is the only one making the vaccine covshield of Corona virus. It is being supplied in many countries including India.

Concerned officials have said that the fourth and fifth floors of the Institute building have been set on fire and 10 fire engines have reached there to control the fire.

Serum Institute of India is developing Corona Vaccine Covishield of Oxford-AstraZeneca and is the world’s largest vaccine manufacturer.

Not only India, many other countries also depend on this company for vaccine. The Serum Institute of India is part of the Kovacs Scheme supported by the World Health Organization. The aim is to provide vaccines to countries with middle income.

Pune Deputy Police Commissioner Namrata Patil M has said that “this fire has started at the terminal 1 gate of the plant”.

“They are facing obstacles in relief work due to the spread of smoke all around.

However, he has said that there are no injuries and all have been saved safely.

Fire brigade officer Prashant Ranpese has said, “The entire building has been evacuated after the fire. But four people were trapped in it, out of which three have been evacuated.”

Local MLA Chetan Tupe has also reached the occasion and has said that the fire is in the SEZ-3 building and the work of making the vaccine is not being done in this building.

Pune’s Assistant Police Commissioner Ravindra Shisway has said, “There are many buildings in the Serum Institute. One of them is on fire. The officers of the fire brigade are engaged in controlling the fire. We are not much aware of the damage right now.” Can give. Nothing concrete can tell about how the fire broke out. “
