Bhopal has a unique group of young people called Youngshala. The group’s founder, Rollly Shivhare, believes that art is the best medium to understand environmental problems and communicate them to common people. She feels that until serious issues like climate change and pollution reach people in simple language, finding solutions won’t be easy.

Youngshala’s fellowship includes 10 young artists from different parts of the country. Each has their approach. Some create pottery to highlight soil and deforestation issues, while others use dance to showcase air pollution.

Rajkumar, who is from Ganjbasoda in Vidisha, has depicted plastic pollution using wall paintings and doodling. Bhopal’s Areeba has told the story of water pollution through her paintings. Areeba says that working on this project has taught her a lot about environmental issues herself.

Initially, these young people faced many challenges. It wasn’t simple for them to convey their message through art. But today, all these artists are working to awaken people in their own ways. To effectively combat climate change, it is essential for people to first understand the issue. Youngshala’s initiative shows that art is not just entertainment, but can also be a means of changing society.
