An unidentified man in Indore was seen throwing liquor bottles in a mosque. According to the CCTV footage, the man got out of a luxury car and threw the bottles in the mosque after which he drove away.
The incident took place at around 4 am on 13th June at AB Road, Indore, Madhya Pradesh. The members of the mosque committee were aggrieved at the incident and lodged a complaint at the MIG Police station in Indore.
The Police have filed an FIR against the identified man, under IPC 295 section (A) for deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage the religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs. The MIG police station in-charge Ajay Verma stated that the complaint has been lodged against the person and the police are trying to find the accused through the CCTV footage.
Alcohol haram in Islam
Alcohol is considered to be Haram or forbidden in the Islamic religion and is deemed to be morally wrong to drink it. According to their holy book Quran, the intoxicating substance is considered to be the work of “Satan”. Further, the Prophet Mohammed also cites the negative effects of alcohol on one’s health in the holy book.
A country like Saudi Arabia, which is considered to be home to Islam’s holiest cities, outlaws alcohol altogether. If found drinking, the individual could be punished by flogging, fine or imprisonment and deportation for foreigners. Whereas in a country like Dubai, known for its glitz and glamour, the laws on liquor sales and possession of liquor have been loosened to some extent.
