The general air quality index in the national capital stands at 525, which is extremely dangerous. Delhi has lost its smile behind layers of toxic smog, and people are witnessing serious health problems amid worsening air quality.
The air quality of the national capital has deteriorated to “severe” in recent days, according to data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). As the deteriorating air quality has affected the general mood of Delhiites, members have flooded the internet with funny posts to make their “online life” less gloomy while facing gloomy weather conditions.
The Delhi administration closed schools and asked 50% of government employees to work from home. But many social media users posted sarcastic memes and videos mocking Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, claiming that he was too busy with the election campaign in Gujarat to focus on the Delhi crisis.
And as concerns about rising pollution levels due to stubble burning in neighbouring states like Punjab grow, people have taken the opportunity to produce some hilarious memes on the subject.

AQI in Delhi
On Friday in the corresponding morning period, the AQI of the capital was registered at 472. Additionally, areas in the National Capital Region (NCR) – Noida and Gurugram area at 7am this morning recorded an AQI of 529 and 478 respectively, both in the highly toxic ‘serious’.
Dhirpur in West Delhi recorded an AQI of 534. On Friday, SAFAR (System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research) said stubble burning accounted for 34 per cent of Delhi’s particulate matter (PM) 2.5 pollution. People in Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) complained of suffocation and ‘burning eyes’ due to smog and air pollution that left people breathless.
In winter the air becomes especially toxic
In the last United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, recently held in Glasgow, India did not agree to commit to compliance with the most ambitious restrictions on the use of coal and the emission of fossil fuels. In addition, the national consumption of coal has increased considerably in the last decade.
