The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) has extended the deadline for submitting Class 12 exam forms to October 20. The earlier deadline was September 30.
This change comes after heavy rains and floods hit parts of Marathwada, Nashik, Solapur, and Ahilyanagar, leaving many students unable to complete the process on time. Parents of students from these areas appealed directly to Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, citing the difficulties caused by the floods.
Shinde said he received multiple calls from students and parents in flood-hit regions. “Due to the flood situation, it is not possible for many Class 12 students to fill out the exam form,” he explained. Acting swiftly, Shinde discussed the issue with Education Minister Dada Bhuse. The decision was then taken to extend the date, ensuring that students get relief.
The extension gives thousands of students additional time to register without added pressure. With schools and homes in affected areas facing damage, many students also lost books and notes, disrupting their preparation.
This step ensures they can now focus on studies rather than worrying about missing the deadline. It also highlights how natural calamities affect not just daily life but also the academic calendar.
The floods have already forced changes to other examinations, such as the MPSC prelims, now rescheduled for November 9. The extended deadline for Class 12 forms will help students regain some stability in these difficult times.
