Sanjoy Ghose Media Awards 2023: Recognizing Excellence in Rural Reporting and Empowering Young Voices

Charkha Development Communication Network proudly announces the Sanjoy Ghose Media Awards 2023, an initiative designed to honor the exceptional work of freelance writers, independent researchers, social advocates, and young peer leaders who are dedicated to reshaping the role of media in empowering young girls and women in rural communities. These awards serve as a tribute to Charkha’s visionary founder, Sanjoy Ghose, who dedicated his life to fostering the social and economic inclusion of marginalized rural communities through innovative media practices. Over the span of two decades, these awards have nurtured a community of development communicators poised to establish influential models for sustainable change. Awardees come together to exchange ideas, collectively driving the creation of a visionary, responsible, and socially sensitive media – the fourth pillar of democracy.
