Himachal Rains: Scary visuals of floods from Thunag market of Mandi

The situation in Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh has worsened in the last 24 hours due to heavy rainfall. Numerous reports of flash floods and landslides have emerged from various locations. A video capturing the alarming scene at Thunag Bazaar has gone viral, showing water and debris rushing down from the hills onto the road.

The debris from the Thunag market’s center has infiltrated people’s homes and shops, causing significant losses for many shopkeepers. Unfortunately, the road has been completely closed, preventing any assistance from reaching those affected.

“The road has been completely jammed by large trees carried along with the debris, and it will take a significant amount of time to clear them.”

It is being told that first the road will be opened and then the police will go and assess the damage.

However, Pandoh’s market was also observed to be engulfed in water due to the flooding. It is crucial to note that all five gates of the dam must be opened in this area.

The Meteorological office has stated that an active Western Disturbance will cause intense spells of extremely heavy rainfall on Sunday in Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, Una, Hamirpur, and Bilaspur districts. These heavy downpours are expected to occur at isolated places.
