Ground Report | New Delhi: Vijay Rupani resigned; Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani has suddenly tendered his resignation. Rupani reached the Raj Bhavan and submitted his resignation to the Governor. Vijay Rupani resigned

Addressing the press after his unexpected step down from the top post, Rupani said his resignation was in accordance with the “BJP tradition” of providing equal opportunities to all party workers.

“I am ready to serve in whatever role the party gives me,” Rupani said. He said that he is committed to the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Asked under whose leadership the BJP will contest the assembly elections next year, Rupani said the party is guided by Modi’s central leadership.

Fourth BJP CM to step down in recent months

It is being said that after the sudden resignation of the Chief Minister, the round of meetings has started in the Ahmedabad BJP office.  Vijay Rupani was made Chief Minister by BJP in 2016. Earlier Anandiben Patel was the Chief Minister of Gujarat. The BJP surprised everyone by appointing a non-Patidar leader and a less popular leader among the people as the Chief Minister.

Vijay Rupani is the fourth BJP chief minister to step down as chief minister in recent months. In July, BS Yediyurappa resigned as Chief Minister of Karnataka and Tirath Singh Rawat of the BJP in Uttarakhand submitted his resignation within four months of replacing Trivendra Rawat.
