It is becoming increasingly difficult for companies to compete in the race for viral videos on the Internet.
Keeping this fact in mind, the messaging app SnapChat has announced that one million dollars a day will be distributed to the users who create the most interesting content.
A new feature called ‘Spotlight’ will suggest users to view the ‘most interesting’ post by estimating users’ preferences with the help of an algorithm.
SnapChat says the feature will include content from both private and public accounts, as well as popular personalities.
According to SnapChat, the 1 million daily redemption scheme will run until at least the end of this year, but the company says that if the plan is successful, it could continue into 2021.
How to get a million-dollar?
To earn revenue under this scheme, videos have to be submitted under this SnapChat scheme.
How much the makers of these videos benefit from it will be determined under a complex formula, but it will definitely include how many times a video is viewed.
However, SnapChat has not specified how many people will receive a million dollars each day and how much money each person can earn.
Customers must be 16 years of age or older to participate in this scheme.
Consumers must also follow the company’s guidelines on issues such as copyright, sponsorship, drugs and alcohol.
The company says it will keep an eye on violators. Special care will also be taken to ensure that no one can tamper with the algorithm.
SnapChat says it will use its testing method to make sure that someone is actually watching these videos from their own account, not a ‘boot account’.
Spotlight is rolling out slowly and is available first in the following countries:
