Asif’s family members alleged that Asif was forced to chant ‘Jai Shri Ram’

Ground report | Haryana: A 27 years old Muslim Youth Asif Khan a gym trainer, was lynched by a mob on 16 May in Haryana’s Nuh’s Atta village district. Asif, who lives in Mewat, was returning from his sister’s house on Sunday along with his 2 cousins.

On the way, a group of other youths attacked him, the mob beaten Asif to death. Khan’s family claims that men made Khan say ‘Jai Shree Ram’. Later abused him with religious slurs a pattern observed in several cases of mob lynching in India.

The trio were returning on a bike when people in two SUVs on the way surrounded them and hit Asif’s bike. Reports said that Asif fell to ground and about 15 to 20 people gathered there and attacked him with sticks and bars.

Asif Khan’s brother and eye witness Rashid told the police that 15 to 20 boys from his own village were involved in the attack. The other accused were from nearby villages. Rashid told that he also beaten Asif with sticks and sticks and then shot him later.

It is alleged that the mob beat up Asif with sticks and iron bars. Asif’s brother said that around 9 to 10 youths from the village were involved in the attack. It is also alleged that Asif has been shot after the assault.
