At least 22 people have died due to leaking oxygen tank in a hospital in Nashik, Maharashtra. There were a total of 150 patients in the hospital in which 23 people were placed on ventilators.

The supply was disrupted for half an hour in the hospital due to oxygen leakage.
Nashik Municipal Corporation Commissioner Kailash Jadhav told a while back, “The leakage has been stopped with the help of a technical engineer. But now only 25 percent oxygen is left in the hospital.”
“Low oxygen People can live with supplies but those who are on ventilators cannot survive with less oxygen. We will investigate the incident and take strict action against the culprits” he said.

According to the news agency ANI, when the oxygen was being filled through tankers in Nashik’s Doctor Zakir Hussain Hospital, it leaked.
“As per the current information, 22 people have died due to the interrupted supply of oxygen at the Zakir Hussain municipal hospital. The patients were on ventilators as well as on oxygen supply, which got interrupted after the leakage in the oxygen supply tank,” district collector Suraj Mandhare told reporters.
“It’s an unfortunate incident. As per preliminary info, we’ve learnt that 11 people died. We’re trying to get a detailed report. We’ve ordered an enquiry as well. Those who are responsible will not be spared,” said FDA Minister Dr Rajendra Shingane on the incident.
Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope said “Due to the valves leakage of the tanker in Nashik, there was massive oxygen leakage. There must definitely have been an impact on the hospital but I’m yet to gather more information. We’ll issue a press note after gathering more information,”.
