Ground Report | New Delhi: IUML Removes Students Union; The Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), an ally of Congress in Kerala, on Monday removed the national vice president of its student organization Muslim Students Federation (MSF) from the post.
According to the Indian Express report, MSF vice-president Fatima Tahlia had supported women leaders who had leveled sexual harassment allegations against male leaders in the organisation. Earlier IUML had dissolved the state committee of ‘Haritha’, the women’s wing of MSF.

IUML general secretary PM A. Salam said on Monday that Fatima has been removed from the post on charges of indiscipline. Fatima was made the vice-president in 2016. Some leaders of Haritha had leveled allegations of sexual harassment against the male leaders of the party. For not taking any action against these leaders of IUML, the women had lodged a complaint with the State Commission for Women. Fatima was giving full support to these women.
IUML Removes Students Union
Among the three leaders who have accused women of sexual harassment, state unit president PK Navas is also there. The women had alleged that during the state committee meeting of MSF in June this year, Navas and two other MSF leaders had allegedly made objectionable remarks on women leaders of Haritha. The matter was brought to the notice of IUML leadership.
After the Haritha leaders complained to the State Commission for Women, the IUML had asked the women to withdraw the complaint under the ‘compromise formula’. At the same time, the accused MSF male leaders were asked to continue in the post by posting an apology on social media.

Last week, Navas was arrested in a harassment case but the IUML stood by him. After the women leaders refused to withdraw the complaint, the IUML dissolved the Haritha committee and formed a new committee with people loyal to the party leadership.
When IUML had released the new list of Haritha members, at that time Fatima had expressed displeasure and said, ‘This matter will be taken up again within IUML. I will continue to support Haritha leaders till they get justice.
