America issued warning

The US embassy in Afghanistan issued a warning several hours ago advising Americans to stay away from Kabul airport. The warning said that in view of the security risks at Kabul Airport, it is being advised that US citizens avoid going towards the airport and stay away from the airport gate.

US citizens who are at Abbey Gate, East Gate, North Gate or New Ministry Gate should leave immediately. People were instructed to keep an eye on the news coming in the local media, follow the suggestions of the local administration, keep an emergency plan ready and be alert at all times.

People have been asked to follow the US State Department’s Twitter and Facebook accounts, and to participate in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program so that they can receive timely and track information if they run into trouble.
