Ground Report | New Delhi: How to use WhatsApp Web without your smartphone; WhatsApp, the most used national and global instant messaging application, is technically already a multi-device application today: in addition to the mobile application of our smartphone, we can use the Desktop version on our PC, as well as the Web version on any computer to which we have access.

The difference with this new update is that after scanning the QR code, it will now be possible to enter WhatsApp Web even if the cell phone is off, in airplane mode, or without internet. Of course, it should be noted that the session will be closed after 14 days of inactivity on the device.

Step 1: Open WhatsApp on your phone and tap on the three-dotted icon, which is located on the top right corner of the screen.

Step 2: Tap on “Linked devices” and then tap again on “Multi-device beta.” WhatsApp will then display a page, which explains the limitations of the feature and other things.

Step 3: Now, tap on the “Join Beta” button and press on the “Continue” button. Once done, you simply need to link your smartphone to WhatsApp Web by scanning the QR code.

This new modality joins the multi-device mode which allows that, even if the cell phone does not have a battery, the tablets or computers can be connected to the application independently and synchronized. Of course, maintaining the same level of privacy and security.

“Importantly, we have developed new technologies to maintain end-to-end encryption while simultaneously managing to sync your data, such as contact names, chat files, starred messages, and more, across devices,” notes a statement from Facebook, the company to which WhatsApp belongs.

In that sense, each device has the ability to encrypt messages, calls, and video calls without resorting to the help of the cell phone. In addition, the user will no longer have to verify his identity each time he needs to connect since he has ‘Automatic Device Verification’.
