Ground report | New Delhi: Here is how you can help Afghan Refugees; The horrific scenes outside Kabul and endless reports of the worsening situation as Afghanistan came under Taliban control have left many feeling helpless. But there are some things you can do.

Here is how you can help Afghan Refugees

Organizations such as Women for Women International, Mehboba Ka Vaada, and Yalda Hakeem Foundation work to advance the lives of girls and women, including providing education and career opportunities. Save the Children has called off its operations in Afghanistan but says it aims to resume operations there as soon as it is safe.

There are organizations active here in Afghanistan or in neighboring countries and abroad, including Australia, to support the Afghans.

Many are running fundraising appeals for Afghanistan.

Islamic Relief USA

Islamic Relief USA (IRUSA) provides relief in communities around the world and acts as a development organization, guided by the teachings of the Quran. IRUSA has been working with Afghan communities for over 20 years. As the current crisis unfolds, it is providing water, sanitation kits, and shelter for displaced families.

Christina Tobias-Nahi, Director of Communications and Public Affairs, told Newsweek: “Islamic Relief USA to provide Islamic Relief Afghanistan with $ to support internally displaced persons with food, water storage units, sanitation kits, shelter, and other items 1 million to help them tackle their displacement and food insecurity.

“In addition, here in the United States, Islamic Relief USA continues to support a growing network of US-based social service community organizations that provide refugee assistance to Afghans and other clients, whether it is English language courses, job skills training, health services or health assistance to those fleeing mental violence.”
