The Bombay High Court will hear the interim bail plea of Arnab Goswami, editor-in-chief of Republic TV, on Friday.

He was arrested on Wednesday in a case of abetting an interior designer for suicide in 2018, and was then sent to 14 days judicial custody.

On Thursday, Arnab’s lawyer reached the High Court, challenging his arrest and demanding the cancellation of the FIR.

The petition requested a stay on the investigation and directed the police to release them.

But the Bombay High Court refused to grant interim relief to Arnab.

According to the legal affairs website Live Law, the High Court said that an interim order cannot be passed without hearing the complainant and the state.

The court decided to hear it on Friday.

Arnab Goswami has been sent to judicial custody for 14 days. Apart from Arnab, two others were sent to judicial custody for 14 days by a Mumbai court late in a case of abetment to suicide in 2018.

Arnab Goswami was arrested from his residence in Mumbai on Wednesday morning in connection with the death of interior designer Anvay Naik and his mother Kumud Naik.

The 53-year-old interior designer had alleged in her suicide note that she and her mother decided to end their lives because Firoz Sheikh and Nitesh Sarda had not paid Rs 5.40 crore with Arnab. Firoz and Nitesh were owners of different firms.

The designer and her mother were found dead in May 2018 at their farmhouse in Kavir village in Alibagh taluka.
