To make a call on a mobile phone from
a landline across the country, it will be mandatory for customers to dial zero before the number from January 1. The Department of Telecommunications has accepted TRAI’s proposal related to it.
The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) had recommended ‘zero’ before the number for such calls on 29 May 2020. This will allow telecom service providers to make more numbers.
In fact, on May 29 this year, TRAI recommended to put ‘zero’ before the number for such calls. Which has been accepted by the Department of Telecommunications. This will allow telecom service companies to make more numbers.
The Department of Telecommunications said that companies will have to provide zero dialing facility to all customers of the landline. Companies have been given time till January 1 to adopt this new system.
In a circular issued on 20 November, the Department of Telecommunications said that TRAI’s recommendations for changes in the number of dialing numbers from landline to mobile have been accepted.
This will facilitate the creation of sufficient numbers for mobile and landline services. According to the circular, after applying the above rule, to call from landline to mobile, one has to dial zero before the number.
The Department of Telecommunications said that telecom companies would have to provide zero dialing facility to all landline customers. This facility is currently available for calls outside your region. Telecom companies have been given time till January 1 to adopt this new system.
This change in the way of dialing will allow telecom companies to create 254.4 crore additional numbers for mobile services. It will help meet future needs.
