The Madras High court strongly reprimanded the Election Commission for allowing political parties to hold election rallies during the second wave of Corona virus infection.
Chief Justice Sanjib Banerjee said during a hearing that ‘a case should be registered against the officials of the Election Commission on murder charges’.

According to the court affairs website Live Law, Chief Justice Sanjib Banerjee told the Election Commission of India, “Your institution is responsible for the second wave of Corona.”
The Madras HC has warned that if the Commission does not make a proper plan to ensure adherence to the Corona Protocol on 2 May, the counting of votes will be banned with immediate effect.

The Chief Justice of the High Court told the EC, ‘The health of the people is the most important and it is worrying that the Constitutional authorities have to remind such things. Only when a person lives will he be able to take advantage of his democratic rights.

The Chief Justice said that ‘the situation is now of survival and security. Everything comes after this. After consultation with the state Health Secretary during the hearing, HC directed the Election Commission to present the plan to implement COVID protocol on the day of counting on 30 April.

The Chief Justice asked the Commission, ‘Were you on any other planet when the election rallies were held?’.
The bench directed that the blueprint must be placed on record before it on April 30.
