A Bangladeshi citizen named Rubel Jonu Sheikh has been arrested by the Mumbai Police on charges of illegal stay in the country. It is learned that Rubel Sheikh was the local BJP leader there.

Rubel Sheikh was the BJP chief of the minority branch of North Mumbai.

Mumbai Police DCP S Chaitanya told the media on Saturday, “We have arrested the accused on charges of possessing fake documents.”

On this whole matter, Congress leader Sachin Sawant has questioned, “Is this BJP’s Union Jihad?”

He posted a video on social media and said, “BJP chief Rubel Sheikh of the minority branch of North Mumbai has turned out to be a Bangladeshi, does the BJP have any option to rectify the issue in the Citizenship Amendment Act?”

A picture of Rubel Sheikh is being shared with the BJP MP on social media.

Gopal Shetty says that Rubel Sheikh was the head of minority wing of BJP’s North Mumbai but now he has been dismissed from that post.

On Friday, on this matter, Maharashtra State Home Minister Anil Deshmukh has said that Rubel Sheikh had obtained Indian citizenship on the basis of fake documents. Now the matter is under investigation.
