Ground Report | New Delhi: 15 killed in two incidents ; Incessant rains throughout the night in Mumbai led to landslides and the collapse of a wall of a house in Navi Mumbai, killing 15 people, official said.
An official said that 12 people died when the wall of a house collapsed at around 1 am in Vashi area of Navi Mumbai.
At the same time, another official said that three people living in the huts were killed when the huts collapsed after a landslide at around 2.30 pm in Mumbai’s suburban Vikhroli. This incident happened in Surya Nagar area of Vikhroli. Some of the injured have been admitted to the hospital. (15 killed in two incidents)
It is reported that more than 200 mm of rain was recorded in several areas of Mumbai within a few hours, due to which the Central Railway and Western Railway had to stop the sub-urban train services in Mumbai.
The rain last night reminded the people of Mumbai of the rains on July 26, 2005. Then 944 mm of rain was recorded in 24 hours.

A senior BMC official said that the Indian Meteorological Department has issued a red alert regarding Mumbai. Red alert in the language of the Meteorological Department means that the administration should be alert and do whatever necessary preparations have to be made.
The Meteorological Department also did not expect the rain situation in Mumbai to change like this. Officials said that Mumbai received more than 100 mm of rain in just six hours. While there was no forecast of so much rain.
The Meteorological Department says that there may be good rain in Mumbai on Sunday as well.

Central Railway officials say that due to submergence of railway tracks at Dadar, Parel, Matunga, Kurla and some other places, rail services between CSMT and Thane have been suspended.
Before the Corona pandemic, the Central and Western Railways used to carry around 7.5 million passengers in their more than 3,000 trains every day. But during the pandemic, railway facilities are available only for emergency staff and government employees.
