In a recent session of the Lok Sabha, BJP MP from South Delhi, Ramesh Bidhuri, stirred controversy by making an offensive remark against Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader Danish Ali. The incident occurred during a discussion on the success of Chandrayaan-3.

Bidhuri allegedly used derogatory language against Ali, referring to him as a ‘Bharwa’. This comment sparked immediate outrage among the opposition members present in the house.

Adding to the controversy, Dr. Harsh Vardhan, a senior member of the BJP, was seen laughing after Bidhuri’s remark. This has led to further criticism from opposition parties, who have condemned both the offensive comment and the reaction it received.

Defence Minister and Deputy Leader of the Lok Sabha, Rajnath Singh, expressed regret over Bidhuri’s remarks. Rajnath Singh had to express regret for Ramesh Bidhuri. “If Ramesh Bidhuri has said anything objectionable,” he said, “then we should remove it from the record, and I express my regret.”

Some opposition MPs had raised questions on PM Modi giving credit for Chandrayaan-3. Ramesh Bidhuri said that the people of the country have built AIIMS and other institutions, so why are they all in the name of one family. Similarly, if you are giving credit for the success of Chandrayaan to Modi ji, then why are you feeling pain in your stomach? When Danish Ali interrupted, Ramesh Bidhuri used very objectionable words.

Women’s reservation bill

On Wednesday, the Lok Sabha passed the women’s reservation bill with 454 members in support and two opposing it.

The bill proposes that the reservation will continue for a period of 15 years and reserves one-third quota for women within the seats reserved for SC/STs.

The President of India, after ratifying it, will convert the Bill into an Act and insert it into the Constitution as a new article – 334A. The Rajya Sabha held a voting on the Bill after an 11-hour debate, with all members, regardless of party lines, supporting it, although some opposition members referred to it as an election gimmick.
