The weather in Madhya Pradesh is changing, with the Meteorological Department issuing a drizzle alert in 15 districts on Wednesday, but no heavy rain warning. The state is expected relief from the intense cold over the next three days, as night temperatures will rise by 2 to 3 degrees by January 31. Rain is likely in more than half of the state on February 1.
According to Ved Prakash, senior scientist at the Meteorological Department, night temperatures will rise over the next three days, while daytime temperatures will remain stable. “Right now, the day temperature in most cities is around 25-26 degrees Celsius, but at night, it drops below 5 degrees. In the coming days, it will rise to 7-8 degrees,” he said.
However, cold winds will keep daytime temperatures feeling chilly, as seen on Tuesday. The jet stream wind speed over North-West India was recorded at 268 km/h at 12.6 km altitude, impacting wind speeds across Madhya Pradesh, which ranged between 12 to 14 km/h.
Western Disturbance to bring rain
The Western Disturbance will become active on February 1, causing weather changes for the first four days. Senior meteorologist Dr. Vedprakash Singh stated, “Due to the western disturbance, the weather will remain unstable in the first week of February. Between February 1 and 4, eastern and southern Madhya Pradesh, including Rewa, Shahdol, Jabalpur, Sagar, Gwalior, Chambal, and Narmadapuram divisions, may receive rainfall.” Light drizzle is expected on January 29.
January 29: Drizzle is possible in Bhopal, Indore, Chhindwara, Sehore, Panna, Rajgarh, Singrauli, Rewa, Shahdol, Sagar, Narmadapuram, Gwalior, Datia, Shivpuri, Guna, and Ashoknagar.
January 30: No rain expected. The weather will stay cool during the day, but night temperatures will rise.
Madhya Pradesh residents can expect warmer nights and occasional drizzle in some districts over the next few days. However, February is likely to bring significant weather changes with rainfall in several parts of the state.
