Fire officials informed that a fire broke out at a girls’ paying guest (PG) accommodation in Delhi’s Mukherjee Nagar area on Wednesday. Atul Garg, the Director of Delhi Fire Service, stated that the building had trapped some girls. The firefighters completely extinguished the fire and safely rescued all 35 girls from the building.

Initial reports mentioned that several students were present in the hostel when the incident happened. The officials conducted rescue operations to rescue trapped girls from the building. They have rescued 5 girls from the building so far.

Fire tenders rushed to the location to douse the fire soon after the news about the fire incident in the dense city, which is considered a hub of education.

“The Delhi Fire Service officials said that they have received a fire call from Signature apartment, Mukherjee Nagar. They have rushed a total of 12 fire tenders to the site and some girls are trapped in the building. We are awaiting more details.”

Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal expressed his concern regarding the incident on his official ‘X’, formerly known as Twitter account. He also assured that he is constantly keeping an eye on it.

Reports indicate that several women residents are feared trapped inside the burning building, while the exact number is unconfirmed. Fire department officials stated that they are making efforts to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby buildings.

The area around the building has been cordoned off by authorities. Authorities have yet to determine the cause of the fire.
