According to the IPF Smart Policing Index 2021, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Assam, Kerala and Sikkim have the best policing. The bottom five states in this list are Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Punjab.

For the survey, the survey looked at police sensitivity, fair, impartial and lawful policing, police accountability, integrity, strict and good behaviour, accessibility, accountability, supportive and friendly policing, integrity and corruption free services.

The survey is an attempt to assess the performance of various states on the Smart Policing initiative of the Prime Minister. While it is heartening to see 69 per cent of the country’s people satisfied with the police system, we are hopeful that wherever there are lapses, this survey will inspire states to do better.
