Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) will present its annual budget of over ₹8,000 crore today. The budget meeting will take place at Atal Bihari Vajpayee Council Hall at 11 a.m. Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargava will announce the financial plan.

Indore to present ₹8,000 crore budget

The budget will not introduce any new taxes. A new online portal will be launched to make civic services more accessible and transparent. The proposal also includes higher funding for sports and city development projects.

Indore will present its ₹8,000 crore budget today, ensuring no new taxes for citizens. Officials will launch a new digital portal to streamline public services and improve transparency. The Public Works Department will receive ₹2,000 crore, the highest allocation. Authorities will strictly monitor entertainment tax collection to increase revenue.

The administration will allocate an additional ₹2 crore for Gaushala animals’ welfare. The budget will also support the Mr. India bodybuilding competition and tribal festivals, promoting sports and cultural events in the city.

Under the Digital City plan, the municipal corporation will introduce a new software system. This initiative aims to make civic services more affordable and transparent. Residents will be able to complete various tasks online, reducing delays and paperwork.

The Public Works Department will receive the highest allocation of ₹2,000 crore for infrastructure projects. The corporation expects to generate ₹5 to ₹10 crore from entertainment tax collections due to stricter regulations.

Old properties will be redeveloped to create a steady source of revenue. The budget also focuses on improving the city’s water supply, sanitation, and road networks.

In 2024, the municipal budget was over ₹8,000 crore. For the first time in 15 years, taxes were increased. The budget provided a 75% discount on city buses for Usha, Asha, and Anganwadi workers. Students from outside Indore received a 25% fare discount. Free WiFi service at 150 intersections was also proposed.

In 2023, the budget was ₹7,500 crore. No new taxes were introduced. The Atal City Bus service was expanded, and municipal employees were made permanent.

The council will discuss the budget on Friday, April 5. Once approved, the corporation will begin implementing the planned projects.

The focus on digital services, sports, and infrastructure aims to improve Indore’s civic facilities without imposing an extra financial burden on residents.
