During the Lok Sabha election season, a short video featuring politicians Sharad Pawar and Uddhav Thackeray has sparked controversy on social media. The clip, circulated by the Maharashtra BJP and amplified by right-wing handles, portrays Pawar directing Thackeray to leave the room, fueling speculation about discord between the two leaders and their parties. Amid this, a closer examination of the footage reveals a different narrative, shedding light on their actual interaction.

Claim

The Maharashtra BJP and right-wing social media handles shared a video implying that Sharad Pawar instructed Uddhav Thackeray to exit the room, suggesting tensions between the two political figures and their parties.

Reality

Contrary to Maharashtra BJP and associated right-wing platforms, a thorough analysis of the 12-second clip paints a different picture. While Pawar does address Thackeray, his demeanour is relaxed and amicable. His request for Thackeray to wait suggests a casual exchange, instead of hostility. Thackeray’s composed response and folded hands indicate a non-confrontational interaction.

Fact Check

The video has sparked controversy, especially among right-wing circles, but is subject to misinterpretation. Despite claims of Pawar asserting dominance over Thackeray, a nuanced understanding reveals a benign interaction. His request to wait likely stems from ongoing engagements, rather than animosity.
