Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai called on people to keep the peace, saying “important clues have been found during the investigation.”
Condemning the incident, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad accused the Congress of “appeasement”. Union Minister of State Shobha Karandlaje has demanded the NIA investigate the case. At the same time, Congress has demanded the resignation of Karnataka’s Home Minister, raising questions about the incident to the government.

According to the police, the Bajrang Dal Harsha worker (26 years old) was attacked by people with a knife on Sunday night. The time of the incident was said to be around 9 p.m. He was taken to the hospital but his life could not be saved. Authorities say the motive behind Harsha’s murder could not be determined.
After the incident, some of Harsha’s supporters took to the streets and protested. Video footage of the protest has emerged showing some people throwing stones. To control the crowd, the police had to shoot into the air and banning orders were imposed for two days. According to police officials, schools and universities in the district were closed on Monday. An FIR has been registered in the murder of Harsha, 23, a Bajrang Dal activist, at Dodapetta Police Station, Shivamogga. The FIR was registered based on the complaint filed by Harsha’s father.
Harsha was a Bajrang Dal worker for the past five years and was hacked to death on Sunday 20 February. He was involved in activism against cow slaughter, and his father claimed that many young Muslim men did not like him.
Harsha reportedly received threats from Muslims in the nearby area, warning her of dire consequences. Young Muslims on MKK Road (Adil and Pathan), KR Puram Road and RL Nagar continued to threaten Harsha with dire consequences.
“On February 20, he left his house around 8 at night saying that he was going to have dinner at a hotel. At 9:30 I received a call that Muslim thugs had attacked Harsha on the NT road near Kamat gas station with lethal weapons,” his father said.
Harsha was lying in a pool of blood in the hospital when his father and his sister arrived. His father claimed, “Muslim thugs had a problem with him because he was a Bajarang Dal worker. They have murdered him.
Deputy Commissioner Selvamani R said: “Prohibition orders have been imposed throughout the city. Holidays have been declared in schools and universities.” Police officers have sought the cooperation of the local population in the investigation of the case.
Previously, during the hijab controversy, there was a tense situation in Shimoga. This dispute started from Udupi in Karnataka. There, six female students were prevented from wearing hijabs at the PU Government Women’s College.
The students refused to accept the university’s decision and filed a lawsuit against it in the High Court. The students boycotted the classes in protest against this decision. The matter is being heard in the High Court. Due to this, there were demonstrations and violence in some cities, including Shimoga.
