Priyanka Gandhi has promised to give tickets to 40% women and youth in the UP assembly elections. Under this, a list of some such women has been released who will get a chance to contest elections on Congress ticket. One of them is Poonam Pandey who is an ASHA worker. Congress is going to field her from Shahjahanpur.

Who is Poonam Pandey?

Poonam Pandey is an ASHA worker. Asha workers did a lot of work during Corona. They went from village to village and fought against Corona. But no facility was given to them by the state government. These ASHA workers are forced to run their own households on very low wages. They are not given any facility by the government, nor do they get the facility of a government employee. The ASHA worker delivers the health schemes of the government to the village. They work day and night, but they get nothing in return for reproach.

That’s why Poonam Pandey along with Asha worker had come to protest at CM’s residence. Video of this incident gone viral on social media. These ASHA workers were brutally thrashed. Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra shared the grief of ASHA workers. By giving ticket to Poonam Pandey in the upcoming elections, Congress is trying to bring the vote of Asha workers in its favour. Also, under her campaign Ladki Hun Lad Sakthi Hoon, she is trying to empower women like Poonam Pandey by giving them tickets.

Congress candidate Poonam Pandey said, Priyanka Gandhi has expressed confidence in her. To which she will fully fulfill. Priyanka Gandhi’s slogan, Ladki hoon, lad Sakti hun’. She says that her fight is with the government which had lathi-charged her. She claims that she will win the Shahjahanpur assembly and will take the Congress forward.

Priyanka Gandhi said, Asha Workers served the country at the time of Covid without caring about their lives. When their honorarium was not increased, the sisters raised their voice. Shahjahanpur’s ASHA worker Poonam Pandey was badly beaten up by the police. She will also be our candidate.
