According to the report of Telegraphindia, The campaign of United Kisan Morcha will be focused on Uttar Pradesh. However, in Uttarakhand too, the United Kisan Morcha will campaign. Morcha will not support any party in Punjab. SKM leader Darshan Paul says that if any party comes to Punjab seeking votes, then questions will also be asked from it.
In the Uttar Pradesh elections, special attention is being paid to western Uttar Pradesh. 130 assembly seats come from here and the Samajwadi Party-Rashtriya Lok Dal alliance has attracted the attention of the people in this area. The farmers’ movement and the disillusionment of Jats with BJP is also being told behind this.
An SKM leader says that farmers have now become cautious amid reports of attempts to distribute the money among voters. In Punjab, wherever elections are going to be held, it is the custom of farmer unions not to take sides as their individual constitution forbids it. SKM leader Darshan Pal of Krantikari Kisan Union said, “But even there, we will ask questions from all parties who come to us for votes.”
Much attention will be given to western Uttar Pradesh, which has 130 seats in its assembly and where the SP-RLD alliance is gaining traction, partly due to farmers’ agitation and Jat’s disillusionment with the BJP. According to an SKM leader, farmers have already started monitoring amid reports of attempts to distribute the money among voters.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah felt compelled to refer to the SP-RLD alliance while campaigning in Bulandshahr on Thursday. Referring to the earlier family feud between Akhilesh Yadav and the Samajwadi Party, Shah said, “I want to ask (RLD leader) Jayant Chaudhary how a leader who does not listen to his uncle or father will listen to them.”
Shah’s speech is being seen as a veiled confirmation that he tried to persuade the RLD chief to forge an alliance with the BJP but failed.
