Akhilesh said that the alliance of the Samajwadi Party with Rashtriya Lok Dal has also been finalised. Now talks are to be held between the two parties regarding seat sharing. Akhilesh Yadav is currently an MP from the Azamgarh Lok Sabha seat and will be the chief minister’s face from the party’s side in the upcoming assembly elections.

Assembly elections in UP are to be held in February and March 2022. Last month, on October 4, Yadav was detained by the UP police from outside his residence in Lucknow, where he was staging a sit-in after being stopped from going to Lakhimpur Kheri, where eight people, including four farmers, were killed on Sunday.
